Terms of Service
These terms apply to the game "Swords and Coins" and the website swordsandcoins.com (the "Service"), operated by Swords and Coins, a Swiss sole proprietorship (the "Seller", "we", "us"; contact in section 9). By playing the game or using the website you agree to these terms. If anything here is unclear, write to [email protected] before you buy anything.
1. What the Service is
Swords and Coins is a turn-based browser strategy game: a medieval-principality economy and war simulator, played solo or with other players. The game runs on our server; there is no offline mode.
Free to play: guest play without registering, one save slot on a small map, a single full game with no cut-off partway through, and the first three chapters of the tutorial.
"Full version" — a one-time purchase that unlocks, for your account: several save slots at once, medium and large maps, creating your own multiplayer games (players you invite play free — only the host pays), the balance-tuning window, and tutorial chapters 4–7. It is a single one-time payment, not a subscription.
2. Accounts
You can play as a guest, or register an account with a login and, optionally, an email address. You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for anything done through your account. Give us accurate information; don't impersonate anyone or share an account with people it wasn't meant for.
3. Acceptable use
- Don't attack, overload, or try to break into the server or the game's infrastructure.
- Don't use bots, scripts, or automation to play turns, farm accounts, or manipulate multiplayer games.
- Don't reverse-engineer the client or server in order to run a pirated copy of the game or to bypass the purchase.
- Don't harass, abuse, or impersonate other players.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.
4. Purchases and payment
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Paddle collects the payment, issues the receipt, and is your point of contact for billing questions, invoices, and chargebacks. See our Refund Policy for how refunds work.
On the itch.io edition of the game, the full version is unlocked by a donation of the amount shown in the game, made on the game's itch.io page. That payment is processed by itch.io under its own terms, and refunds for it are handled by itch.io.
5. Availability, changes, no warranty
We do our best to keep the game available and your saves intact, but the Service is provided "as is", without a guarantee of uptime, and we don't promise it will be free of bugs or interruptions. Features, balance, and the game's content may change over time, including after you've bought the full version — a purchase unlocks the features described above, not a frozen snapshot of the game.
6. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including lost progress in a game, to the extent the law allows us to exclude that liability.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland. Any dispute that isn't resolved informally is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at the Seller's registered domicile in Switzerland, to the extent mandatory consumer-protection rules don't require otherwise.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time; the current version is always the one published at this address. Material changes will be noted on this page.
